Roundup: Halloween Costume Tutorials
Happy Saturday! I am a busy bee today finishing up my little ladies Halloween Costumes! :) This year we set out to have a bride and a pumpkin...but in the end we have a dancing penguin and a sweet little owl! :)
If you're still looking for costume ideas, here's a roundup of some of the GREAT costume tutorials I came across this year:
I LOVE this adorable Cupcake Costume from Lemon Tree Creations. Don't be surprised to see one of my girlies rockin' this costume next year! ;) It is SO sweet!
How cool is this? Sugar Bee - Craft Edition shows us how to create an easy Upside Down Man costume!
Family Fun shares this Bag of Gross-eeries tutorial - too funny!
This Mermaid Costume over at Family Fun is made of baking cups! How clever is that?!
This sweet little Chicken Costume from Martha Stewart makes me laugh everytime I look at it! :) I'll definitely be adding this to my "someday costume" file! ;)
There are so many awesome costume tutorials out there - I could feature dozens! But, I have to get back to my sewing machine! Have fun creating!

My wildest dreams coming true!
I am overjoyed and humbled by the response my chemo cap tutorial has received! THANK YOU to everyone who has shared the link and spread the word about this tutorial! Special thanks to Anne at the fantastic Craft Gossip who featured the tutorial on the Craft Gossip Website as well as in the daily newsletter.
While I am honored by the feature, and in awe of the fact that the tutorial has received over 500 hits in less than 4 weeks; I am most grateful for the wonderful people who have taken the time to write to me and share their personal stories. I truly appreciate your emails and comments! I feel so blessed to have been presented with this opportunity to help others and am so grateful that through this experience I have had the opportunity to "meet" some truly incredible people!
Hearing from real people; cancer survivors, MS patients, ladies with alopecia, friends and family members of cancer patients, and some truly incredible people who while not directly affected have chosen to use this tutorial to make caps for those in need – has been a surreal experience for me! The response is so much more than I had ever dreamed possible - I am filled with joy and more inspired than ever! I am flattered by the kind words of gratitude so many of you have written to me in response to this tutorial, and am truly humbled to know that something I have written is being shared on websites, blogs and forums all around the world.
What an amazing experience!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!

5 simple ways you can fight Breast Cancer!
Hi Friends! If you read my Chemo Cap Tutorial post, you know that I am passionate about seeing a cure for cancer in my lifetime. This disease truly affects us all. I know the war on Cancer can be overwhelming, but YOU can make a difference! We all can! There are MANY ways for you to get involved! Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I want to share 5 simple things we can all do TODAY that will make a difference!
1. Educate yourself about Breast Cancer! Learn all you can about Breast Cancer detection and prevention! Early detection is the best strategy for beating Breast Cancer. These links have great information:
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
American Cancer Society
Susan G Komen for the cure
2. Buy something pink! - Shop with a purpose, to end breast cancer forever! This month, you will see Pink products everywhere! Look for participating products that will donate a percentage of your purchase to aid in the fight against breast cancer. From cleaning solutions to jewelry, there are TONS of participating products! I'm sure you've seen the specially marked pink packages at your local stores. Marie Claire magazine put together a very impressive shopping guide {Check it out here} -that features over 100 participating products!
3. Wear pink! - Dress in pink to spread awareness! Wear pink to encourage others to get involved, to show support to those families directly affected by breast cancer, and to encourage every woman you see to get a mammogram! {Don't forget to schedule your own mammogram!} :)
4. Make a chemo cap! {and then give it away to someone who needs it!} Check out my Chemo Cap Tutorial for instructions! The American Cancer Society projected that in 2010 there would be approximately 1,529,560 new cancer cases diagnosed. 1,529,560 people! That means there is someone in your community, right now, who would appreciate a beautiful chemo cap. Make one and help make their day! :)
5. Like Dannon Yogurt! Dannon, the yogurt company, is donating 10 cents for every “Like” they receive on Facebook. Click here to get to their Facebook page, then just click "like" - easy peasy!
